We know you're trusting us with your child. So we've answered every question we've ever been asked — transparently, directly, and without the fluff.
The most common question we get — and the most important one.
No — and this distinction matters. A tutor's job is to deliver academic content. Steadii's job is to build the environment where your child can actually absorb it.
Most struggling students don't have a knowledge problem. They have a focus, confidence, or discipline problem. More content delivery won't fix that. A steady, caring human presence — with AI backup for knowledge gaps — will.
Absolutely. That's exactly what the Ask Steadii AI tool is for. When your child hits a knowledge wall during a session, the companion uses Ask Steadii to get a clear, age-appropriate explanation — guiding your child to the answer rather than just giving it to them.
This covers the Singapore curriculum across all key subjects. So knowledge gaps are addressed — just in a way that builds understanding rather than dependency.
Tuition centres have their place. But they operate in groups — often 8 to 20 students — which means your child's specific struggles are rarely addressed in real time. The pace is set by the group, not your child.
Steadii is always 1:1. The session adapts to your child's energy, pace, and needs on that specific day. Research consistently shows that 1:1 support produces outcomes two standard deviations above group learning — meaning your child could outperform 98% of peers taught in groups.
Student care centres provide supervision and a place for children to do homework — and they serve an important purpose for working parents. But their focus is care and containment, not learning quality.
Steadii is the opposite of containment. It's active, intentional, and personalised. The companion is there specifically for your child — with purpose, structure, and the tools to support real growth.
Who is coming into your home — and how do we ensure your child is safe.
Every Steadii companion goes through a three-stage process before their first session:
1. Application review — We assess their motivation, maturity, and communication skills from their written application.
2. Interview — A personal interview with the Steadii team to assess character, reliability, and fit.
3. Reference checks — We contact references to verify their character and reliability.
Only after all three stages are completed does a companion enter our onboarding programme — and only after onboarding do they take their first session.
All companions are young adults aged 16–21, based in Singapore. Many are JC students, polytechnic students, or undergraduates who genuinely want to make a difference in a child's life.
They are not tutors, and we don't pretend they are. Their role is to be a steady, encouraging, accountable presence — with the Ask Steadii AI tool handling academic knowledge support when needed.
Yes. All active companions are covered by insurance during sessions. This protects both the companion and your family in the unlikely event of any incident during a session.
Yes — fully and by design, not as an afterthought. All companions are aged 16–21, which falls within Singapore's Ministry of Manpower guidelines for young workers. Sessions are 2 hours each, with a mandatory 10-minute break built in. Companions work a maximum of 3 sessions per day, keeping total daily hours within MOM limits.

Everything about how sessions work, when, and where.
All sessions take place at your home. The companion comes to you — not the other way around. We believe the most effective study environment is one where your child is comfortable and settled.
Please ensure there is a quiet space with a table for the session — a study room, dining table, or bedroom desk all work well.
After booking your package, you'll receive a Calendly link to schedule your sessions at times that work for your family. Sessions can be spread across weeks or concentrated — your choice.
We'll confirm each session 24 hours in advance via email, and send a reminder on the day.
Any subject in the Singapore curriculum — English, Maths, Science, Chinese, History, Geography, and more. Your child sets the agenda for each session. The companion helps them stay focused on whatever they're working on, and Ask Steadii provides guidance when they hit a knowledge wall.
Sessions can cover multiple subjects — or go deep on one. It depends on what your child needs most that day.
For the first session, absolutely — we encourage parents to be nearby and available. After that, we gently suggest giving your child and their companion a little space. The relationship and trust that builds in that 1:1 environment is part of what makes Steadii work.
You will always receive a full session report — so you're never out of the loop, even if you're not in the room.
Clear, fair, and always communicated upfront.
We understand life happens. Sessions can be rescheduled at no charge with at least 24 hours notice before the scheduled start time.
To reschedule, simply email hello@iamsteadii.com or use the link in your confirmation email.
Late cancellations (less than 24 hours notice) will count as a session used from your pack. This is because the companion has already committed their time and travel.
We know this may feel strict — but it protects our companions, who are young people relying on this income. We appreciate your understanding.
If a companion fails to arrive for a confirmed session without adequate notice, that session will be fully credited back to your pack — no questions asked. This has never happened, but we want you to know you are protected.
We hold ourselves to the same standard we hold our companions. Here's how we approach every family relationship:
If a companion is running late, we will always do our best to notify you as early as possible and find a fair resolution together
If you feel a companion isn't the right fit for your child, reach out and we will work with you to find a better match
Session reports are our commitment to transparency — if you haven't received one, just let us know and we'll follow up promptly
We treat every family as a partner — if something doesn't feel right, we want to hear from you and we will always respond with care
How the AI works — and why it's designed the way it is.
No — never. This is one of our six non-negotiable guardrails. The Ask Steadii tool is only accessible from the companion's logged-in device. The companion types questions on behalf of the student — your child is never left alone with an AI interface.
The companion is always present, always in control, and always mediating the interaction. AI is a support tool, not a replacement for human presence.
Absolutely not — this is our most important guardrail. Ask Steadii is designed to never solve a problem outright. It always explains the method, provides a similar example, and guides the student to work out the answer themselves.
We built it this way deliberately. Our goal is to build real understanding — not to produce dependency on AI shortcuts. A student who can't explain how they got the answer hasn't actually learned anything.
Yes — a maximum of 8 queries per session. When the limit is reached, the companion receives a message prompting them to note any remaining questions for the student's teacher or for the next session.
This limit is intentional. It prevents over-reliance on AI and reinforces that Ask Steadii is a support tool, not a shortcut. It also ensures the companion remains engaged and present — not outsourcing the session to an AI.
Yes — every single query is logged against the session ID, companion, student, subject, and timestamp. Parents can see exactly what questions were asked and what guidance was given in their session report.
Full transparency is a Steadii promise. You will always know exactly what happened in your child's session.
Ask Steadii is trained specifically on the Singapore curriculum for students aged 10–16. It handles academic questions across all key subjects — Maths, Science, English, Chinese, History, Geography, and more.
It is designed to decline politely if asked anything outside academic scope — personal questions, general chat, or off-topic requests. If it receives such a question, it responds: "I'm here to help with your studies — what subject are you working on today?"
We'd rather answer your questions than have you book something you're not confident about. Reach out — we're real people who care.
